Musician & Teacher
Thank you for visiting my website! You can see details of performances, ensembles and projects I am involved in as a recorder player and teacher.
A fourth year recorder player at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, Eleanor studies under the tuition of teachers Annabel Knight and Chris Orton. Since starting at the Conservatoire Eleanor has been interested in discovering all aspects of Early Music, particularly the Renaissance and Baroque, but also enjoys exploring innovative 21st Century works exploiting the recorder’s range and timbre.
Born in Lancashire, Eleanor has been involved in music from a young age, with an involvement in her school and local ensembles allowing her to experience many genres of music and perform in venues across the UK and abroad. These have included playing various parts in a jazz and swing band, and singing in several choirs of varied repertoire from sacred music through to gospel and folk.
Ensemble music forms the majority of Eleanor’s performance work, particularly with the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Recorder and Historical Performance departments, as well as the Swift Recorder Trio and choir of St. Philip’s Cathedral, Birmingham. You can read more about Eleanor’s performances on the Performance page of the website, and view upcoming and past events in the diary section.
